Down Syndrome & Mental Health Support Group

Does your teen or adult loved one with Down syndrome also have a mental health diagnosis such as Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or Bipolar Disorder? Often these illnesses bring on a change in daily living skills, mood, or interest in activities once enjoyed. Seeing these changes and regression in your loved one can be very difficult.
Please join other parents and caregivers for a support group meeting facilitated by Mary-Frances Garber, a licensed genetic counselor providing supportive genetic counseling in her private practice, Listening, Reflecting, Healing in Needham. She has been a consultant with the MDSC for the past 8 years providing insight and support to many families.
Please note that individualized psychiatric treatment will not be provided at this meeting. This meeting is meant to serve as a venue for families with loved ones with Down syndrome and mental health concerns so that they may obtain mutual support with professional supervision.

Winter Bingo! Virtual Game Night: for teens and adults with Down syndrome and friends, ages 13 and up

Teens and adults are invited to join us on Zoom for an evening of winter bingo! Bring your favorite snack and feel free to get cozy in your pajamas while we play a fun and festive game with friends!

Please join us in this fun holiday event as we celebrate the holidays with other families. We will be making “Mini Gingerbread Houses”. So, come in your favorite pajamas, bring a hot beverage of choice, and join us for some virtual fun. There will be games, music, and prizes.
You will need: (1) Box of Graham crackers, (1) Container of Icing (Flavor of your choice), (2-3) small bags of candy or cookies to decorate the houses (ex. peppermint, mini candy canes, chocolate chips, teddy grams, skittles, Twizzlers, dots)

Guess That Song Virtual Game Night! for teens and adults with Down syndrome and friends, ages 13 and up

Teen and young adults ages 13-22 are invited to join us for game night to play Guess that Song! From oldies and holiday classics to new pop and country, there will be songs for all music lovers! Anyone who would prefer not to participate in the game is welcome to join in, listen to the music, and of course…dance!
